From an aesthetic side, the intention of this project was to design a chair for kids, that was simpleunobtrusive and had a gentle form.  From a technical side, the hope of this project was to learn how to take advantage of the fact that different manufacturing processes will yield different products based entirely around both their strengths and limitations.

I decided to design an injection molded chair that could easily be stacked, and stored away when not in use.

Injection mold tooling is extremely expensive, but with its ability to output nearly an infinite quantity of items, unit cost is extremely low.

Injection-molded parts can be made very thin to reduce weight, material costs, and shipping costs. Often ribs or cross-sections are added for structure, and stability.
